Your Multilingual Solution For Material In Over 25 Languages

Sourcing material for your multilingual collection can prove to be a challenge!  Library Bound is pleased to be your one-stop supplier for print and audio-visual material in 29 languages.

Once we have established the types of world language material the library is looking for, LBI works with a supplier to order material that fits their guidelines. We work with various suppliers in each language to identify what types of material are popular amongst each region, focusing on bestselling authors and titles that are expected to have longevity within the collection. LBI then reviews the material once it arrives to ensure it meets the libraries criteria.

We consult with our longstanding distributors for suggestions of popular World Language material. We also read reviews from professional publications like Library Journal and Publishers Weekly for any recommended international titles to include in future orders. For Spanish material, we review publisher’s catalogues and websites for updates on new releases and popular titles. LBI orders Spanish material on a monthly basis, and otherwise all other world language material is delivered once a year.

We currently source material in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), Dutch, Farsi, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu and Vietnamese. This includes adult and juvenile print, as well as AV material when available.

New Library and Opening Day Collection Support

Library Bound has been providing New Library and Opening Day Collections to its customers since 1995. LBI has the capability to provide storage throughout the branch build. LBI offers the “packing by Dewey” option for branch builds, and by Alphabetical order for Fiction material. Shipments are then delivered to the appropriate Library shelves for unpacking.

Supplying Your Cataloguing and Unique Processing Needs for 25 years

LBI’s cataloguing services provide great flexibility, and custom requirements, due to the sophistication of the proprietary MARC Record Production System, which has recently been upgraded to allow increased efficiency and accuracy during the cataloguing process and for MARC record customization. This system allows us to provide Library specific coding for such things as call numbers, custom GMDs, enhanced subfield coding in subject headings, notes fields, series changes and Library specific MARC tags and holdings fields. All of these changes are set in the Library’s profile. The custom changes and call numbers are then incorporated into the records based upon the pre-defined logic when the MARC records are uploaded into the Cataloguing database. This allows the Library great flexibility at no additional costs or MARC production restrictions to either LBI or the Library.

The system also provides the processing department with custom labels (spine labels, smart barcodes) and instruction sheets derived from the same pre-defined logic to ensure consistency and accuracy of material processing.

Our ability to efficiently deliver shelf-ready material of consistently high-quality ranks us among the top suppliers of processing services.

Build Your Collections With The First Library Wholesaler To Develop And Name ARPs

Library Bound is Canada’s industry leader in supplying material to public libraries by Automatic Release Plans (ARPs). LBI was the first to create and name ARPs in 1993. Profiles are created on an individual basis by LBI’s Collection Development Specialists in consultation with the designated library staff members. We work closely with each library to customize plans to suit the specific needs of its community. LBI currently offer plans in more than 40 categories and can create a category specifically to suit the needs of the individual library. Plans can be structured around a list of popular authors, a list of preferred genres, or around any specific criteria that the library prefers. During this process, we establish budget allocation, branch distribution, selection exceptions and program monitoring parameters. Our goal is to provide current, quality material while adhering to the library’s budget and selection criteria.

Library Bound administers Best Seller plans to dozens of major Canadian library systems. We also offer plans in a wide variety of categories and media for children and adults, including Christian fiction, multilingual material, audio books, large print books, travel guides, automotive manuals, ESL material, study guides, language learning material, mass market paperbacks, western novels, personal finance books, comic anthologies, graphic novels, video games, music on CD, and both fiction and non-fiction DVDs and Blu-Rays (including a T.V. series ARP). LBI offers an extensive selection of French language material, and we are the industry leader in supplying multilingual and foreign language material to Canadian public libraries.

Online management features ensure that budgets and fund accounting can be tracked on the LBI website, and brief MARC records are supplied to the Library for all ARP selections, allowing patrons to place holds in advance of the material’s arrival. LBI can also provide a branch distribution report to assist Library staff when unpacking an ARP shipment.
