Genre: Pop Compact Disc - VRN #208081 | | "South Africa" by Various Artists A celebration of the musical diversity of South Africa from township jive to mbaqanga. Featured artists on the album include Miriam Makeba, Soul Brothers, Soweto Gospel Choir, Mahube, and many more.Genre: World Compact Disc - VRN #207045 | | "Bible Belt" by Diane Birch A fantastic debut album from singer-songwriter Diane Birch. I love the retro feel!Genre: Pop Compact Disc - VRN #195990 | | "Defying Gravity" by Keith Urban This is the album I am most looking forward to in 2009! "Sweet Thing" is currently getting airplay on country radio and I've had several listens to "Kiss A Girl." You can tell Keith Urban is in a great place in his life with this quote about the album name: "Defying Gravity comes from the lyrics of a song on the album and it just struck me at the time as a phrase that really defined the joyous, optimistic, and uplifting spirit that seemed to show itself while making the album." Genre: Country Compact Disc - VRN #188687 | | "The Fame" by Lady Gaga "Just Dance" is a catchy pop-dance tune featuring Colby O'Donis. Can't wait to hear the whole album! Genre: Pop Compact Disc - VRN #179324 | | "The Love Chronicles" by Divine Brown "Lay It On The Line" is the current single from The Love Chronicles. Canadian R&B chanteuse Divine Brown wrote the songs and co-produced the album. Genre: R & B Compact Disc - VRN #179329 | | "C'MON!" by Keith Anderson C'MON! picks up where Keith Anderson's debut left off. His current hit single, "I Still Miss You" is a follow-up to "Every Time I Hear Your Name" from the debut album. I'm looking forward to hearing Keith's rendition of "Lost In This Moment", the #1 hit song he wrote for Big & Rich! Genre: Country Compact Disc - VRN #180211 | | "Never Say Never" by Alex J. Robinson I first heard the lead-off single, "Breakin' on the Love Thing" on the radio in November and absolutely loved it. I just got an advance copy of the album (due to be released on March 25) and it is great! Alex J. Robinson has an amazing voice, and the Sudbury, Ontario native is bound to go far. Be sure to catch her as one of two featured artists in the TV ads for Ontario Tourism that will run nationally starting in March. (The TV ads ran last year across Canada and featured Tomi Swick, Keshia Chanté, Molly Johnson, and Bryan Byrne.) Genre: Country Compact Disc - VRN # 170720 | | "Seven Second Surgery" by Faber Drive Last year, when Mission, B.C.'s Faber Drive decided to submit a song to 99.3 The Fox's Battle of the Bands, they weren't even sure they were good enough to enter. In fact, when frontman Dave Faber took his band's CD to the station on the deadline day for submissions, he nearly gave up and went back home. "I actually got back in my car and pulled away," he says. "Then I decided to go back, so I turned the car around and I got up in the office just before it closed and handed in the disc."
It turned out to be the best move of the band's career. Out of more than 500 submissions, the Vancouver radio station chose the song "Sex and Love" as one of the 20 best. The song was played on the radio in a head to head competition against the other qualifiers and soon Faber Drive (then called Faber) was in the top 10. After live competitions at local clubs, they won first place and were voted the best band in Vancouver.
Listening to Seven Second Surgery, it's easy to see why. When I first heard "Second Chance", I knew I had to get the album. It's a great listen! Other favourite songs on the album include "Tongue Tied" and "Summer Fades to Fall"
Compact Disc - VRN # 149775 | | It Won't Be Soon Before Long By Maroon 5 "At the time I am writing this it is currently 18 days, 10 hours, 51 minutes, 2 seconds and counting until the street date…at least that’s what the countdown clock on the Maroon 5 website says. Needless to say, it hasn’t been released yet, but judging from their past album and the new single, “Makes Me Wonder”, I am anticipating a great album! I’m unable to sit still when I hear the new single. I can’t wait to get my hands on this new CD!" ...Tracy Reid Compact Disc - VRN # 150914 |
 | "These Streets" By Paolo Nutini "I’m embarrassed to say that this CD sat on my desk for weeks before I put it in my CD player. I had heard some of the buzz about Paolo Nutini but hadn’t acted on it. Let me tell you, I wish I had. The debut CD by the 18-year old Scottish singer-songwriter is now in high rotation in my CD library. The lead track “Jenny Don’t Be Hasty” is a terrific pop tune. You may have already heard the first single “Last Request” on some popular TV shows. Other fave tunes are “These Streets” and “Million Faces”. Believe the hype and check it out!" ...Tracy Reid
